Remembering Chesterfield Mall
Let me take you back in time for a moment.
It's Friday Night. You are too young to drive. You pick up your landline phone and begin dialing all of your friends numbers( which you know all by heart) to see if they want to hang out at the Mall tonight. Some of your friends knew how to use 3 wall calling which made things a little easier. After a few rounds of calls it is now the parents turn to coordinate. You are now in the back seat of the family car in the spot you always sit in and are being dropped off to hang out with your friends for a few hours.
You get to the Mall and meet all your friends. A feeling of empowerment encompasses you and your friends because as of right now, it's just you and the gang. No parents. You first head to the food court where you make several laps around eating as many free samples as you can before you get cut off. Maybe, whether it was a wadded up 5 dollar bill in your pocket or a crisp bill from your parents you buy a slice of Sbarro pizza. After hanging out at the food court you make all the usual stops you make when you go to the mall. The pet store, Abercrombie, Hollister, KB toys, Spencers ( and giggled at the stuff in the back) Hot Topic, Slackers, Limited Too, and whatever other stores sparked your developing brains interest.
One of these trips was the last time you and your young friends strolled down the busy corridors together and you never realized it. Do you remember the last time you walked past Auntie Ann's Pretzels and took a deep breath in? Remember the last time you took the kids to see Santa here?
